As part of our community links, Carle Class from The Beacon Walmer visited The Corner Cafe for some delicious breakfast. They learnt and developed the skills of ordering from a menu, eating out in a café, and then paying for their meal at the end. Many thanks to the corner café in Walmer (@thecornerdeal) who welcomed our students and made this such a brilliant experience.
When we articulate our vision at the Beacon we refer to our core aims of supporting the young people to be – as independent as they possibly can be, to reach their maximum potential and to make a positive contribution to their community/society. The Beacon Plus College Café opened earlier this month with our leavers running the café on Tuesdays and Thursdays. You can find hot drinks, cakes and hot food being served at the Mind Café, 3 Mill Bay, Folkestone, CT20 1JS. It was featured in a Kent Online news article, read the full story by clicking on the link below.
The children of The Beacon have been taking part in a global art project this term. The project is called ‘The Walk’ and is the combined work of Good Chance Theatre Company and Handsprung Puppet Company. Further information about this global project can be found at https://www.walkwithamal.org/
