Zone 2 artwork to be displayed at Turner Contemporary from Saturday 27th May until Sunday 10th September

Zone 2’s artwork will also be exhibited at the Turner from Saturday 27th May until Sunday 10th September.

They have created a peaceful protest banner which doubles as a blanket.

The Folkestone Mermaid by Cornelia Parker, is a sculpture at our local beach- Sunny Sands, which they have chosen to wrap in their banner/blanket.

It comments on the threat of rising sea levels and the endangered populations living by the sea, as well as the plight of refugees who are given emergency foil blankets after their treacherous and freezing journeys from Calais to Folkestone.

All of the fabric was donated to our school so the banner is made from entirely recycled material.

This free exhibition goes live from Saturday 27th May and will be on display until Sunday 10th September.
