St. Lucia: Term 6 News

St. Lucia have had a fantastic and busy final term with many events to enjoy.

St Lucia have had a busy term and continue to make personal and academic progress as they reach the end of Year 7.

In English last term our focus was poetry. The pupils learned about different types of poems, such as couplets, acrostic and even our own raps. We used different techniques for example; rhyme, alliteration and themed poems using our senses.

Our mathematics topics have included number work and we have been improving our number bonds, place value skills, addition and subtraction. The pupils have been using Numicon and other practical methods to support their learning.

In Geography we have learned about human and physical features, made our own maps and even done some fieldwork in the school grounds.

Following on from our success in the Panathalon swimming event. The St Lucia team is now preparing for the finals in July at the London Aquatics Centre in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

For the Summer Fayre this year St Lucia class created our own Human Fruit Machine! The pupils had great fun making it and then operating it! We also took part in Race for Life again this year raising money for Cancer Research UK.

Mr Rankin, Mrs Devereux, Mrs Harley and Mrs Turnbull wish all parents, carers and pupils a fantastic summer and the best of luck for next year!
