Hospitality and catering groups start 2017 with gusto!
This has been a very busy and very successful term for all the catering groups. We have been assessed by the new VTCT awarding body and are now offering Catering Awards for EL3 and L1.
All groups have been successful in completing their units and the Sixth Form have now all moved to the higher Level 1 Award.
There are two groups currently on track to complete their GCSE in Hospitality and Catering.
The Year 11 group have done their final practical assessment, creating International dishes ranging from Greece, Eastern and Italian cuisines. They all made mouth-watering dishes and showed excellent skills. Well done to them – just the final exam paper to go in June!
The Sixth Form Hospitality group have been practising cooking for various events throughout the year. This culminated in a super special Easter lunch for other Sixth Form peers and staff. Over 40 people attended our ‘pop-up’ restaurant in Morocco which was beautifully arranged with a purple and yellow spring colour scheme. The three-course meal consisted of three choices for each courses all perfectly cooked and appetisingly presented.
They all worked so hard and made a brilliant team helping each other with all aspects of cooking, serving and the inevitable mound of washing up and cleaning. We received wonderful positive feedback including: “Can I have this again tomorrow!” This was their final assessment for the GCSE course again with a written paper in June, which I am sure will see them all with good results.
