Beacon Swimming Success!
This week a team of swimmers from The Beacon competed in the National U14 Swimming Finals at the Aquatics Centre in the Olympic Park.
The first ever nationwide pan-disability competition held by Panathlon. The eight teams had qualified through their regional finals and travelled from all corners of England for the inaugural event.
I am delighted to be able to share news of a fantastic achievement by our team. Despite being 3 teammates down on the day, and up against full teams representing the best special schools from all parts of the country, our team finished in an amazing 4th place! The pupils collected medals in a poolside ceremony and will receive certificates in assembly.
I was so proud of their attitude, effort, team spirit and sportsmanship throughout the day.
Huge congratulations to The Beacon swimmers; Samantha, Nadine, Kyle, Daniel and Marcel on a truly extraordinary achievement!
