“Oh Sweden do like to be beside the seaside!”

Sweden have loved learning all about the seaside environment this term.

In Literacy, the children have been listening to the story of “Maisy Goes on Holiday” by Lucy Cousins.  The book has amazing colourful drawings of Maisy at the beach, and the children in Sweden have loved using these to identify features from the seaside environment.   The children have also experienced some of these features for real, such as sand, pebbles, shells, etc.

In Maths, the children have been catching fish from the water and identifying the printed numbers on them.

We have continued the seaside theme in other areas too, in Art the children have painted and printed fish, and in Cooking the children have made Star Fish sandwiches and jelly (to help them imagine what a jelly fish might feel like!).

The children have also continued to make progress in their usual activities, such as phonics, Numicon maths, and both inside and outside child initiated play.
