KSENphony Choir

On 23rd November, the Beacon’s secondary choir were invited to sing at the Kent Association of Headteacher’s conference at the Ashford International Hotel.

This was a grand annual event where the conference is entertained, between keynote speeches, by different schools. The Beacon was invited to perform as part of the KSENphony choir, which is a choir made up of schools in the KsENT (Kent Special Education Needs Trust) partnership.

Over 70 children with varying degrees of needs from all over Kent performed. This was the first time that a special needs school had been invited to perform and at the end of the performance, the children received a standing ovation from the 200+ in attendance. It was a fantastic achievement for the students, some of which, had never performed outside of the school environment.

The comments received afterwards were extremely complimentary. The students thoroughly enjoyed it and I have no doubt would love to do it again!
