Grenada: Term Update

Grenada class have had an extremely busy Term 2.  We have been on two trips to take learning out of the classroom and on both occasions the children were a huge credit to The Beacon School!

Our first external trip was as part of our History topic and we visited St Leonards  Church in Hythe.  Children were able to explore the entire Church as well as learn about the bones and skulls in the Crypt.  It was a fantastic day where we all learnt a great deal about local history.  Our second trip was a visit to Folkestone Quarterhouse to meet a real life Author!  This was part of the local Literary festival.  The children were so lucky to meet the author of Beetle Boy, M.G. Leonard.  They were truly inspired by stories from her books and we will be reading more of her work in class.

Aside from those exciting trips the children have been working really hard and effort wise we have seen a great improvement from everyone. Topics have included Roman cooking and Shield making, Pictograms and Time as well as learning about and replicating art in the style of Matisse.  We look forward to a rest over Christmas and will be looking forward to more learning adventures in the New Year.
